LAAAWPPI sponsors a powerful program for women of color and breaks new ground for women to become more involved in the leadership process. LAAAWPPI has partnered with the University of Southern California (USC) to offer a 10-week intensive and comprehensive training program to prepare women for corporate advancement, to run for elective office, manage political campaigns, seek government appointments, understand public policy decision-making, and sharpen their leadership skills.

Who Should

Women who seek to become more involved in civic, community and public leadership.

Women who have a strong interest in running for political office, climbing the corporate ladder or enhancing their entrepreneurial and leadership skills.

Women who have a keen interest in campaign consulting as a profession.

Women who are, have been, or desire to become leaders in their professions or community.

Women who are contemplating seeking political appointments.

Women with a strong interest in personal achievement, career advancement or
partnering with others to promote women in leadership.

Women who wish to study politics from an academic standpoint, i.e., interested in political research or teaching.

Application Due Date
Applications are generally due December 1st of each calendar year, with a
$25 non-refundable application fee.

Next Dates
The 10-week sessions start in January and end in April
of each calendar year.

Program Components

10 weeks (every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) of classroom study including role-play and evaluation of leadership skills.

Panel presentations with political operatives, scholars, government officials, and business and community leaders.

Some field study with elected officials, political parties, campaigns, corporate and labor entities.
